Job description


Refugee Legal Support (RLS) is seeking a dynamic and innovative self-starter as our Outreach Officer for our Northern France Project. You will be highly organised with an in-depth knowledge and experience of the UK asylum systems and of the challenges faced by people on the move in Northern France. You will work with the Project Coordinator and drive forward the objectives of the project, including:

Logistical support:

  • Coordination of monthly in person visits by volunteer lawyers to Calais in liaison with partners. This includes sourcing, maintaining and supporting a rota of volunteer immigration practitioners, travel arrangements and logistics.

  • Coordination and administration of a monthly online Forum. This will include supporting those involved and expanding existing networks: lawyers, organisations and other volunteers.

Information Sharing, Resource Development & Volunteer Coordination:

  • Deliver workshops and collective information sessions to communities in Northern France, including people on the move and volunteers and activists.

  • Keeping up to date the written information and resources provided to volunteer lawyers (including an outline script for info sessions and FAQs).

  • Drafting and maintaining thematic information materials for people on the move, volunteers, and organisations. This includes the identification of gaps in information provision and initiatives to address them and coordinating translations.

  • Coordinate input and contributions from different sources, including RLS trustees, expert panel, independent or external volunteers.

Project Coordination:

  • Assist the Northern France Coordinator in maintaining the data spreadsheet recording project actions to support project monitoring, reporting, and impact evaluation.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential records in line with GDPR.

  • Adhere to the RLS safeguarding policies and procedures at all times.

  • Maintain a project risk register and suggest mitigation actions.

  • Develop and administer feedback mechanisms and other systems of monitoring, evaluation and learning with respect to the project.
