The RLS UK Family Reunion from Europe (UK FRFE) Project was set up in response to Brexit and the end of Dublin family reunification to the UK on 31 December 2020.
The project is designed to provide legal advice and assistance to people who want to join family members in the UK who could previously have applied under the Dublin Regulations. The project can also assist people who are unregistered in Greece or who had registered their claim for asylum before 31/12/2020 but who did not manage to have their request for family reunification sent to the UK before Brexit.
People who want to join family in the UK now have to apply under the UK’s own laws on family reunion. These applications are called ‘Entry Clearance’ or visa applications. To make these applications, people will need help from UK lawyers.
The RLS UK FRFE project works by placing UK family reunion cases from Greece with specialist lawyers in the UK. These lawyers will help families make visa applications to the UK. RLS also has caseworkers in Greece who will help applicants collect evidence and other documents and provide support to them with the application process.
If you or someone you are supporting wants to make an application to join family in the UK, please get in touch with the RLS UK Coordinator Efi Stathopoulou: coordinator.uk@refugeelegalsupport.org.
